The Camera Trigger works with cameras that support a wired shutter release. Here’s how to determine whether your camera is compatible and what connection you’ll need.

camera compatibility

How it works

The Camera Trigger operates your camera’s shutter by electrically closing the same circuit used by a wired remote shutter release.

If your camera supports a wired shutter release, it can be used with the Camera Trigger using the appropriate cable or adapter.

Most cameras with a wired electrical shutter release are compatible, including many models from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Pentax and other manufacturers.

What cable do I need?

The Camera Trigger uses a standard 3.5 mm TRS connection to control your camera’s shutter.

The Camera Trigger doesn’t communicate with your camera over USB, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. It simply closes the same electrical circuits as a conventional wired remote. Your camera may use a different connector, so an adapter or camera-specific cable or adapter may be required. These can be purchased from your local or online photography supply retailer.

Don’t know what connection your camera uses?

Check your camera’s manual for “remote shutter release,” “wired remote,” or “remote terminal.” You can also look up the connector used by your camera’s compatible wired remote.
